Trina Solar has released the TOPCon series of solar panels for rooftop PV.

Trina Solar says that its new TOPCon solar panel uses n-type technology and is made of two pieces of glass. Its power output is between 415 and 445 W, and its efficiency ranges from 20.8% to 22.3%.

Trina Solar showed off a new line of solar modules called Vertex S+ at the Genera trade show in Madrid, Spain. These modules use n-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPcon) technology.

Michael Katz, a company spokesman, told pv magazine that the new modules series can be used in both homes and businesses. “The new product is different because it has a double-glass design and n-type technology.”

The company sells the panel in two different styles: a single-sided module with a white backsheet and a double-sided product with a clear backsheet.

“The monofacial NEG9R.28 has a white rear encapsulant for maximum output power, with up to 445Wp and efficiency of 22.3%,” the company that made it said. “On the other hand, the transparent NEG9RC.27 is the best choice for high-end aesthetic applications, such as on residential roofs, where the array would almost be invisible. This two-sided module has a front side power of 435Wp and a front side efficiency of 21.8%.

The NEG9R.28 products from Trina Solar come in five different versions. The power output ranges from 425 W to 445 W, and the power conversion efficiency ranges from 21.3% to 22.3%. Their open-circuit voltage is between 50.9 V and 52.6 V, and their short-circuit current is between 10.56 A and 10.71 A. The panels are 1.76 m long, 1.134 m wide, and 30 mm thick, and they weigh 21.1 kg.

There are five versions of the NEG9RC.27 modules, with outputs between 415 W and 435 W and efficiencies between 20.8% and 21.8%. Their open-circuit voltage is between 50.1 V and 51.8 V, and their short-circuit current is between 10.50 A and 10.64 A. They are 1,762 mm long, 1,134 mm wide, and 30 mm thick, and they weigh 21,1 kg.

The products are built with IP 68 enclosures and can be used with a maximum system voltage of 1,500 V. They have an operating temperature range of -40 C to 85 C and a temperature coefficient of -0.30% per C.

The panels come with a 25-year warranty on the product and a 30-year warranty on how well they work. The power output is said to drop by 1% in the first year, and the power output at the end of 30 years is guaranteed to be at least 87.4% of the nominal power output.

The maker said that both types have a surface area of just under two square metres and a black aluminium frame.

“Vertex S+ works well with other BOS components when it comes to installation,” Trina Solar said.

It can be mounted in a number of ways, such as by clamping on the short side or the long side, with a crossed beam, a shared rail, or by sliding in. It is also compatible with more than 99% of mainstream inverters on the market because it has a short circuit current of 10.7A. This was proven by a thorough compatibility analysis.
