Demand for solar panels is increasing as prices continue to fall. For example, the price of a 160W solar panel has dropped by Rs4,000–Rs4,500, hitting around Rs11,000 from its prior price of over Rs15,000. Larger solar panels are also available in the market for Rs35,000 to Rs45,000, a significant reduction from the inflated price of Rs70,000.

Solar power systems are gaining popularity as renewable energy sources with low greenhouse gas emissions, helping to mitigate climate change and lower the carbon footprint of electricity production. Furthermore, operational and maintenance costs are lower than those of traditional energy sources, promoting a shift away from reliance on imported fossil fuels.

The government of Pakistan is currently implementing numerous solar projects and programmes to harness solar energy. The country’s favorable geographical location ensures plentiful sunlight throughout the year, increasing the use of solar power even more.
