Trina Solar, JinkoSolar, JA Solar, Longi, Risen, Canadian Solar, Tongwei, Astronergy, and Das Solar have all asked for rectangular wafers to be standardised so that supply problems can be solved, materials can be used more efficiently, and products can be used in more markets. Based on the agreed-upon rectangular wafer size, these nine makers have proposed a new PV panel size of 2,382 mm x 1,134 mm.

Trina Solar says it wants to get CNY 10.9 billion ($1.5 billion) by giving institutional investors 652,027,699 A-shares. It says that it will use the money it gets from selling the shares to build its 10 GW solar cell and module plant in Huai’an, Jiangsu province, in eastern China.

TCL Zhonghua says it wants to sell shares to raise CNY 13 billion. It will use the money to build a 35 GW factory that will make ultra-thin monocrystalline wafers and a 25 GW factory that will make TOPCon modules.
