At the 210mm Five-Year Ecological Innovation Conference, Dr. Zhang Yingbin, Head of Strategy, Product, and Marketing at Trinasolar, highlighted how 210mm solar modules have transformed the industry.

The Rise of 210mm Modules

Trinasolar launched the first 210mm module in 2020, leveraging Zhonghuan Semiconductor’s wafer technology. By the end of 2024, global 210mm module shipments are expected to reach 380GW, with Trinasolar contributing over 170GW.

Market Shift & Technology Adoption

According to TrendForce, 210mm and 210R wafers will account for 58.4% of the global market by 2025, while smaller wafer sizes have almost disappeared since 2023.

Lower Costs & Higher Efficiency

210mm modules significantly reduce the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE). Fraunhofer ISE found that these modules lower BOS costs by up to 7.6% and LCOE by 4.1% compared to 182mm modules. Additionally, Trinasolar’s 210R modules optimize logistics with a 98.5% container utilization rate, cutting transport costs.

Power Leap: 500W to 700W in Five Years

The 210mm technology accelerated solar module output from 500W to 700W in just five years. In August 2023, Trinasolar became the first to mass-produce 700W+ modules with its i-TOPCon technology.

Industry Collaboration & Innovation

Trinasolar formed the “600W+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecosystem Alliance”, upgraded in 2023 to the “700W+ Alliance”, bringing together leading solar companies to advance 210mm technology.

Future Advancements

In November 2024, Trinasolar achieved a record 26.58% efficiency for its i-TOPCon Ultra cells. With ongoing research, efficiency could exceed 30% in the future, further boosting solar energy output.

Through standardization, innovation, and collaboration, Trinasolar continues to lead the industry, setting new benchmarks for the next generation of solar technology.
