How can I install solar panels to save money on power throughout this upcoming summer?

A number of Pakistani solar power providers have reported an increase in demand, mostly from larger in-wealth houses, ahead of the summer months. In these trying times, many Pakistanis who can afford it are considering installing solar power-producing systems in their houses.

Pakistan’s weather characteristics are favourable for solar power generation, with most areas receiving more than nine hours of sunlight every day. According to the World Bank, using only 0.071 percent of the country’s land for solar photovoltaic (solar PV) power generation would fulfil Pakistan’s electricity needs. However, renewables account for only 5.4 percent of Pakistan’s installed power generation capacity of 39,772 megawatts, while fossil fuels continue to account for 63 percent, followed by hydropower at 25 percent, according to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority’s (NEPRA) 2021 annual report.

Benefits of Solar Panels

Installing a rooftop solar system gives Pakistani households, companies, and farmers several benefits:

Lower electricity Bills: Once installed, solar panels generate free power from the sun, lowering your monthly energy bills by up to 50%.

Solar energy costs are locked in for 25+ years, providing protection against rising rates. In Pakistan, grid electricity prices increase by around 10% annually.

Net Metering revenue: Any excess solar power exported to the grid generates credits that may be applied to your bill.

Improved Power Reliability: Solar combined with batteries offers backup power during load shedding outages.
