In 2023, the country installed 216.88 GW of new photovoltaic capacity, an increase of 148.12% over 2022. The nation added 87.41 GW of solar power in 2022.

China deployed over 163.88 GW in the first 11 months of 2023, and almost 53 GW in December alone, according to NEA estimates.

According to the NEA, CNY 670 billion ($94.4 billion) in investments were made in the Chinese photovoltaic sector in 2023.
