Longi introduces ultra-black HPBC solar modules for residential applications.

The Chinese firm claimed that its new Hi-MO X6 Artist series had an efficiency of up to 22.3% with power outputs ranging from 420 W to 430 W. The smaller variant is now priced at CNY 298 ($41.7)/m2, while the larger model is marketed at CNY 268/m2.

Longi, a Chinese solar module maker, revealed a new module series based on its unique hybrid passivated back contact (HPBC) cell technology last week at the SNEC expo in Shanghai, China.

The new Hi-MO X6 Artist panel is offered in two configurations, Ultra Black and Full Black, with identical electrical specs.

The new devices are available in wattages ranging from 420 to 430 W and power conversion efficiencies ranging from 21.5% to 22.3%. The open-circuit voltage ranges from 39.45 to 40.05 volts, while the short-circuit current ranges from 13.54 to 13.77 amps.

The modules’ temperature coefficient is -0.29%/C, and their maximum system voltage is 1,500. Their dimensions are 1,722 mm x 1,134 mm x 30 mm, and they weigh 22.5 kg. They also include IP68 junction boxes and 3.2mm coated tempered glass.

The new devices have a 30-year linear power output warranty, with the final power output guaranteed to be at least 86.9% of the nominal output power.

The new modules are built using HPBC all-black cells and structured glass, which the company claims assures homogeneous light reflection in all directions. This feature ensures a uniform black look without glare, regardless of installation angle.

Unlike standard solar modules, which are priced by watts, the Hi-MO X6 Artist is priced per square meter, making it easier to line the roof area with solar module size and simplifying cost calculations for consumers. The 450 W version costs CNY 298 ($41.7) per square meter, while the 430 W variant costs CNY 268 per square meter.

Longi stated that the Hi-MO X6 Artist module would go into mass production in the fourth quarter of this year and will be accessible concurrently in all worldwide markets.

Longi introduced the Hi-MO X6 Explorer and Hi-MO X6 Guardian modules back in March. Later, in late May, it hosted the Hi-MO X6 Scientist Panel. In June, it debuted the Hi-MO 9 panel.
