Mibet has reported the successful installation of a 4 MW agrivoltaic facility in Japan. The corporation constructed the 68,000-square-meter facility on unused land in Fukushima Prefecture. According to the report, it is the largest agrivoltaic plant in Japan to date.

Under the solar panels, which are installed 2.5 metres above the ground, seven varieties of grapes will be cultivated. According to a statement by Mibet, the project will generate around 3,7,000,000 kWh of power year. Under a feed-in tariff, it will sell the electricity to power providers.

The photovoltaic panels were mounted using Mibet’s agrivoltaic mounting system, which allows for a maximum tilt inclination of 30 degrees. Additionally, it can endure winds of 80 metres per second.

“The main body of the Mibet Agri-PV system is made of an aluminum alloy and has a 3.25-meter-wide construction, so it will not interfere with the daily operation of agricultural gear.”
