Eliminating the need for Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) is one of the major benefits of this ambitious programme, which highlights Pakistan’s commitment to lowering its dependency on fossil fuels and minimising environmental effect. Converting to solar energy is also expected to have a significant positive economic impact; estimations indicate that $44 million in annual savings can be achieved through lower import costs and higher returns for stakeholders.
