Tongwei maintained a steady lead after factoring out shipments for internal module manufacture, even though it extended its business scope to include the module industry in 2023. Aiko arrived in second, glued to the ABC series. Following long-term investment and manufacturing expansions in non-China countries, Solar Space outperformed industry peers to take the third position. Rearranging the third and fifth spots on the list, Jietai and Runergy completed the list with the same manufacturers as in 2022.
Even though they were excluded from the list, Yingfa and SUNREV showed consistent development. Manufacturers seeking to get a greater market share in 2024 will need to retire obsolete equipment and commit to creative R&D in the face of rapid technological advancements.
Five producers exported 182 GW in 2023, a 56% increase over 2022.
During the first three quarters of 2023, cell manufacturers were completely booked and ran their PERC production lines at maximum capacity. Manufacturers introduced TOPCon lines in the beginning of the technological iteration and increased TOPCon capacity more quickly in the second half of the year. Even with the discontinuation of PERC lines and reduced utilisation rates at year’s end because of market demand, the top five manufacturers exported a disproportionately higher amount in 2023.
