SMA has introduced a new commercial battery storage system.

SMA, a German company, has created a modular lithium-ion solution for commercial storage applications. It is available in two capacities: 32 kWh and 56 kWh. SMA Sunny Tri-power Storage X battery inverters with up to 8,000 full charge cycles are used in both models.

SMA has created a new integrated commercial storage system that may be used with or without PV. Storage 30-20 and Storage 50-20 are the two new SMA Commercial Storage Solutions.

Samsung SDI lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) prismatic cells are used in the system. The two models can do 8,000 full charge cycles with a roundtrip efficiency of up to 98%.

The commercial storage solution, according to the German power electronics specialist, features an integrated energy management system to assure self-consumption and peak load shaving. It further said that backup power capabilities are being developed.

At 100% depth of discharge, Storage 30-20 can store up to 32 kWh of energy. It has a nominal voltage of 324 volts. The system is 608 mm x 1400 mm x 990 mm in size and weighs 359 kg. The Sunny Tripower Storage X 30 inverter is included.

Storage 50-20 has a capacity of up to 56 kWh. It has a 567 V nominal voltage. The system is 608 mm x 2008 mm x 990 mm in size and weighs 555 kg. The Sunny Tripower Storage X 50 inverter is included.

The working temperature varies from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius. The device is designed to work at elevations of up to 2,000 metres above sea level. The new batteries have an IP20 rating and a 10-year guarantee.

The SMA Commercial Storage System is currently available for pre-order and will begin shipping in late May 2023.
