Staubli, located in Switzerland, has introduced a novel branch connection for PV systems with a DC voltage rating of 1,500 V. UL and IEC certifications are present.

“As the world’s first dual-rated DC 1,500 V branch connection, customers may utilise the same product to service both UL and IEC markets,” the business explained in a statement.

It has an impulse voltage rating of 16 kV and a current rating of 60 A for IEC and 50 A for UL. IEC-rated ambient temperature range is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, while UL-rated range is -40 to 90 degrees Celsius.

Offering compatibility with original MC4 and MC4-Evo 2 cable connections, the product completes the company’s MC4-Evo 2 product range. In conjunction with Staubli’s eBOS cabling systems, it permits parallel combining of two strings. The new MC4-Evo 2 branch connection is compatible with both 1000 V DC and 1500 V DC applications.

It offers simple, quick, and cost-effective installation without the need for crimping or torqueing.

“Thanks to cable tie attachment points, rapid, accurate, and worry-free installation is possible,” Staubli added. “The extremely small design fits easily in tight cable raceways, and its modest weight means that wires and mounting clips are under less stress.”

The connection has survived salt spray testing and is resistant to ammonia.

The company said, “It is an extremely durable part that works reliably and lasts a long time, even in tough application settings.”
