The Chinese company Longi is planning to build a solar cell factory with a capacity of 50 GW and a wafer facility with a capacity of 100 GW.

Longi Solar said it will invest CNY 42.5 billion ($6.65 billion) in 100 GW of wafer capacity and 50 GW of solar cell capacity in Shaanxi Province, China.

Longi Solar announced a CNY 42.5 billion investment to more than treble its PV wafer and cell capacity. It intends to construct additional wafer and cell factories.

The corporation agreed to invest with the local authority of Xixian New District in Shaanxi province. According to a business statement, construction of the new facilities would take no more than 18 months and will be completed in numerous phases, with no phase lasting more than six months.

Longi anticipates that the plants will be operational by 2025. They will generate almost 15,000 employment.

Longi’s wafer capacity will be 105 GW by the end of 2021, including 37 GW of PV cells and 60 GW of modules. It expects those statistics to rise to 150 GW, 60 GW, and 85 GW by the end of 2022, respectively.
