This is the first plant in the photovoltaics (PV) industry to get the “zero carbon” label from a separate organisation.

TiGroup, a certification group that focuses on health, safety, environmental, and sustainability inspections and tests, went to Trina Solar’s Yiwu plant to check it out. On-site evaluations were done on a number of factors, such as:

● Energy and resource utilisations

● Greenhouse gas reduction implementation

● Carbon offset implementation

● Intelligent information management systems for energy and carbon emissions

● Infrastructure

● Product design

● Compliance requirements

● Management requirements

The plant got an overall score of 79.68 out of 80 for 2022 and got the Zero Carbon plant (Type 1) Certificate, which is approved by the China Energy Conservation Association. Trina Solar can also say that the Yiwu site’s carbon emissions per unit of output fell by 21.7% from 2021 to 2022, while the amount of power used per unit of output fell by 9.5%. This is because of its complete and sustainable supply chain, which includes product design, energy management, and clever system efficiency.

Trina Solar’s Yiwu plant is a Vertex Super plant and the main place where the Vertex S line of products are made. The Vertex S line of solar panels were made to go on roofs, including those of homes, businesses, and factories. Vertex S uses 210mm silicon chips, which make it more efficient and give it more power. It also works with most inverters and mounting systems. The module line helps Trina Solar reach its goal of giving everyone access to cleaner, greener energy options.

“This certification shows that Trina Solar is very committed to sustainable growth and zero-carbon practises in technology, goods, and process management. Trina Solar’s President of Global Solar Product Business Group, Helena Li, said, “We will keep making products in a sustainable way and find new ways to improve and enhance the whole Trina Solar ecosystem to reduce emissions, protect the environment, and help communities around the world.”

In 2022, Trina Solar was also noted for its low carbon emissions when making all of its 210mm Vertex modules. This was the lowest in the business. The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) certificate was given to the modules by TÜV Rhineland in Germany. They were the first 210mm modules in the business to get this certificate.
