Trina Solar has begun shipping 125 MW of Vertex bifacial modules to Bundorf Solar Park.

Trina Solar is a global provider of total solutions for PV and smart energy. They recently started sending 125 MW of their Vertex bifacial modules to MaxSolar for their Bundorf Solar Park project in Bavaria, Germany. When it is finished, it will be one of the largest citizen solar parks in Germany and will be able to power almost 40,000 homes.

In September 2022, MaxSolar, a German EPC, began building on the 125-hectare plant in Lower Franconia. The project is anticipated to be finished by the middle of 2023, with 40 of its 125 hectares devoted to a communal energy system that will enable local participation.

Numerous solar parks in Europe provide a mixture of residential and commercial objectives, but this one is centred on the participation and benefits of local inhabitants via the citizen energy cooperative. The park will serve as the focal point of a futuristic “energy community.” It will supply a number of charging stations for electric vehicles and a local district heating network in and around Bundorf. The heating network is scheduled to begin construction in 2023 and be finished by the end of 2024. In addition, the PV facility was designed to be expandable with large-scale energy storage technologies in the future.

In October, the first shipment of modules from Trina Solar arrived at the site. MaxSolar selected more than 250,000 bifacial Vertex photovoltaic (PV) modules to power the whole Bundorf Solar Park when it is built. These modules were designed to provide the lowest levelized cost of energy by boosting the output power and energy yield of the module.

With the capacity to reach 670W of maximum power and a high level of efficiency, the Vertex product line provides customers with greater value. These bifacial modules are extremely dependable, even under severe weather situations, because to the dual-glass technology that makes them so. Their design reduces back side shadowing, hence preventing detrimental impacts on efficiency. Compared to monofacial counterparts, the active back side of the cells produces a greater energy output.

“The implementation of Bundorf is proceeding nicely, and we are certain that it will be completed on time and within budget with the assistance of Trina and their major customer. The module’s product attributes, especially its great economic efficiency, persuaded us to choose Trina. Together with Trina, we will execute additional projects successfully and create the future of green energy generation, says MaxSolar GmbH Chief Operating Officer David Butz.

Gonzalo de la Via, President EMEA for Trina Solar, remarked, “At Trina Solar, we are thrilled to be a part of this incredible citizen solar initiative. The Bundorf Solar Park is an excellent illustration of how residents may engage in the solar revolution in a variety of ways, not simply by installing their own PV system. This completely aligns with our company’s mission to provide everyone with clean, cheap energy.”
