Across two facilities – a 417MW facility in Mesaieed Industrial City and a 458MW plant in Ras Laffan Industrial City – 13,849 Trina Vanguard 2P solar trackers will be delivered to Samsung C&T and QatarEnergy, the state-owned petroleum business.
Both sites are anticipated to begin commercial operation by the end of 2024 and, if finished, would provide electricity to energy-intensive facilities owned by QatarEnergy and the national electrical system. According to TrinaTracker, the project will increase Qatar’s renewable energy capacity to 1.68 GW upon commercial operation.
Sookyung Ha, general manager of Samsung C&T Shanghai, stated that the deal “expresses our complete confidence and appreciation for TrinaTracker.”
According to TrinaTracker, their Vanguard 2P trackers, which include a proprietary spherical bearing design, are constructed to prevent the accumulation of sand and other abrasive agents and can operate in highly industrial, dry, uneven, and dusty conditions.
RWDI, a wind tunnel consultant, has certified the trackers’ resilience, which TrinaTracker says delivers the certainty of dependability and durability in high wind speeds and increases bankability. It was also said that the device has a 25-year lifespan and can tolerate high temperatures.
TrinaTracker obtained a contract to provide 552MW of trackers to the Santa Luzia solar project in Brazil last month.
“For the Qatar IC Solar project, we will do all we can to assure timely delivery and grid connection. I also feel that the Qatar project is just the beginning of our partnership with SSCT. Walt Ma, the general manager of TrinaTracker, said that he thinks Samsung C&T and Trina will work together in the future to face new challenges.
